Tips for Today: Fall Marketing Holidays
The first day of fall is Wednesday, September 23! Can you believe it? Soon, we’ll bid adieu to the hot humid days of Summer and welcome the cool and crisp days of Fall! Here are five holidays/events to perk up your Fall marketing calendar:
Columbus Day
In the United States, the celebration of Columbus Day is somewhat controversial. So, for this three-day weekend, try and keep anything in-store to a general patriotic theme, as opposed to heralding Christopher Columbus himself. Since it takes place early in the season, consider hosting some type of autumn-themed celebration, like a Beer Festival or Taste of Fall event. Or, you could host a sidewalk sale, showcasing some of your new fall merchandise!
Football
For some people, nothing says Fall like a Saturday or Sunday spent on the couch watching football. Andfor most of those people, football is best paired with pizza, wings, and other yummy foods. If you own a restaurant or bar that offers delivery or take-out service, why not reach out to your local football fans? A wine or beer shop could put together the perfect pairings for football food, or put together gourmet goody trays for customers to host their own viewing party!
Daylight Savings
Get ready to fall back an hour! As you and your customers will be gaining an “extra” hour, why not celebrate? Your restaurant or bar could offer specials on late night snacks or drinks, and retailers could stay open an extra hour for a customer-centric event! Or, you could take advantage of the morning after – free pastry with a coffee purchase at your bakery to celebrate that extra hour of sleep!
Veterans Day
Veterans Day is observed on November 11 and celebrates the service of all veterans. In the United States there are over 21 million veterans as of 2014. That’s a lot of people to celebrate! Today, you can say thank you by offering specials, discounts or even free services or meals for veterans and active duty military. Alternatively, you and your team can volunteer your time or services to local veterans’ organizations.
Beaujolais Nouveau Day
A fun holiday for wine retailers and restaurants/bars to celebrate! Beaujolais Nouveau Day is marked in France on the third Thursday in November with fireworks, music and festivals. Under French law, the wine is released at 12:01 a.m., just weeks after the wine’s grapes have been harvested! Put your orders in for wines from this region and host a release party, complete with French food, music and decorations!
