LSMerriment: Feast of the Seven Fishes
For the month of December, we’re celebrating “25 Days of LSMerriment.” In other words, we’re sharing 25 great holiday local store marketing ideas to inspire you this season and help drive sales!
Today, we’re sharing an idea a variety of restaurants are doing this year. As you may or may not know, in the Italian (and Italian-American) culture, it’s customary to abstain from eating meat on Christmas Eve, and instead, enjoy a multi-course seafood meal. This tradition is called “The Feast of the Seven Fishes.”
Several Italian and seafood restaurants are offering their customers “the feast” on Christmas Eve or throughout the month of December. We love this idea – not only is it on-brand (culturally) for the Italian restaurants, but it is a great way for both Italian and seafood restaurants to showcase their love for this special holiday tradition. Plus, the multi-course meal is a great way to increase the average ticket for the month of December.
The restaurants listed in this Washingtonian article have customized the Feast of Seven Fishes to work for their restaurant: some offer kid-friendly options, others are highlighting wine pairings, and still others are offering locally-sourced seafood! What a tasty and traditional holiday promotion!
