Holiday Giving Programs: A Great Addition to Your Seasonal Promotion
Holiday promotions are launching everywhere this week…from coffee shops to restaurants to retailers.
It’s always great to see companies giving back during the holiday season as part of their promotion. The statistics show customers are more loyal to businesses that give back to charitable organizations and their communities.
A Holiday Giving Program that caught our eye a couple of years ago was a partnership between Operation Christmas Child and Chick-fil-A in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Operation Christmas Child delivers shoeboxes of gifts to needy children around the world. The boxes are packed by giving people and organizations with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items. Since 1993, they have distributed over 100 million boxes. And a cool feature of the boxes is once donated, you can track where they go using a QR code!
Chick-fil-A was distributing the shoeboxes in their restaurant to customers so they could take them away and fill them up. They had a big display in one of their Harrisonburg, VA locations. And as an added incentive and thank you to customers for giving, if they returned the boxes on November 12th, they would receive a coupon for a free sandwich.
This is a great example of a Holiday Giving Program as it…
- Supports a charitable cause.
- Gets customers involved.
- Provides a ‘thank you’ to customers for their involvement.
- Makes the giving personal as you can track where the box.
