As much as we hate to admit it, the summer months are slowly coming to a close, and back to school shopping is ramping up. For elementary and secondary schools and college alike, promotions for shopping are aimed at families and students. But, what about the teachers? And, what about services that aren’t on the usual “school supplies” list?

That’s where this smart back to school special comes in:

Sugar House Day Spa in Alexandria, Va. is offering a 10% discount for all services for students AND teachers during the month of August! What a great idea!

This type of “service” promotion would work well for salons (manicures, pedicures, other treatments), and retail shops that carry cosmetics or other specialty goods (shaving kits for men). Restaurants could also get in on the action: offering freebies or a discount for student or teacher shoppers taking a lunch break from all the, well…shopping! Bakeries and local coffee shops could entice teachers with a raffle to win free coffee for the first semester or a catered breakfast on a date of their choosing!

Especially if summer tourist traffic is starting to wain in your area, August/Back to School promotions are a great way to get your local customers through your doors!
