Good LSM: Clothing Donation Drive

In Be Locally Relevant, Create Community, Drive Traffic, Good-Bad LSM, Marketing Plan, Planning, Support Local Charities

It’s no secret (to us, at least) that giving back to your local community should be a part of your small business plan. And it’s even better when your small business can give back to an organization that is somehow tied to what your company stands for, or what your passion is.

We love this great example from Lou Lou Boutique in Alexandria, Va.:

Earlier this fall, they hosted a donation drive from Dress for Success, a global not-for-profit organization that “promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.”

This charity partner is a perfect pair for Lou Lou Boutique, as they sell affordable women’s accessories and jewelry! Hosting a clothing drive for Dress for Success is an interactive and meaningful way for the business and their customers to get involved with the organization. Plus, we also love how they incentivize their customers to donate by offering 40% off of one item with a donation. If you come into make a donation, why wouldn’t you take advantage of a discount?

Hosting a donation drive for your charity partner may or may not make sense – depending on who your charity partner is. But if you do decide to host a drive, take a tip from Lou Lou and make it easy, meaningful and rewarding for your customers to donate. This will ensure success for your business and your charity partner!
