Sizzling Summer Marketing

In Be Calendar Relevant, Drive Traffic, Drive Trial, Marketing Plan, Planning

This past Sunday, June 21, was the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s the longest day of the year (most hours of sunlight) and is the official start of the summer season! And while summer can signal a downturn in sales for some businesses, it can be the busiest time of the year for others. Whatever your situation, we have a few summer marketing tips on how to make the most of June, July and August.

Stay-cation Celebration

Not all of your customers are jet setting off for luxurious vacations – many are actually staying put for the summer! Why not bring the vacation to them with a special event? You can partner with other local businesses to host a destination-themed event (think Hawaii, Nantucket or Mexico) that works with your brand. Provide food, beverages, kids activities and fun giveaways to make the event memorable and worthwhile!

Festivals

Check into your community or city calendar to see what festivals are taking place in the coming months. If your marketing budget allows, and you would get quality time with your target customer, see about becoming a sponsor or having a booth/tent at the festival. Festivals are a great place to add customers to your e-Newsletter lists – have them sign up for a chance to win a prize!

Temperature-Related Promotions

Plan a fun marketing campaign that keeps your customers eyes on the thermometer. Every time the temperature goes about 100, offer drink or food specials at your restaurant, or a special giveaway at your retail shop or salon. It’s a fun way to get people out and about when they might otherwise stay indoors.
